Chamonix

An hour’s drive from the bed and breakfast: The Chamonix valley which is undoubtedly our favorite valley in the Alps, nature here is excessive. Not yet arrived, we are greeted by the imposing Bosson glacier.

Let’s enjoy the lively village all year round. A multitude of shops will delight lovers of shop windows with breathtaking views of the summit of Mont Blanc dominating the valley from the top of its 4807 meters. Made famous by the 1924 Olympic Games, Chamonix’s reputation is now international.

From the village you can take the Aiguille du Midi cable car which will drop you off at 3842 meters from there for a high mountain race to the ascent of the summit of Mont Blanc in the footsteps of Gaston Rebuffat or even in winter do the descent of the white valley in a sumptuous setting or contemplate a breathtaking landscape from a glass cabin overlooking the void.

For a quieter adventure, the Montenvers little train, inaugurated in 1910, drops you off in front of the Mer de Glace. Thanks to a small cable car and global warming requires a metal staircase unfortunately each year a little longer you will reach a cave cut into the glacier each season.

For the more athletic, many hikes starting from Chamonix in this landscape described by Goethe, Théophile Gautier or Roger Frison Roche, including in the footsteps of dinosaurs.
